On-site messaging
This optional service lets signed-in customers send enquiries to a named, participating business and exchange replies in private inboxes on Plug-In Solar Compare. It does not place an order, confirm installation suitability or guarantee a response.
Who sees a conversation
The customer and currently authorised, verified company representatives can access it. Sending shares the written message and attached requirements you review. Do not send passwords, payment details or unnecessary personal information. Public reuse of a supplier statement requires a separate factual submission and review.
Delivery and opening
A successful submission makes the message available in the recipient's site inbox. No email or SMS notification is sent. An opening timestamp records the content being opened visibly on this site, not that it was read, understood or agreed. Check the inbox for replies.
Consent and control
Companies choose whether to receive messages. Pausing stops new submissions and replies without removing existing authorised access. Either participant can close, block or report a conversation. A report pauses replies and allows authorised site administrators to inspect it. A company listing, Premium payment or directory contact address is not messaging consent.
Retention
Conversation contents are available to participants for 180 days from the first submission. The period is not extended by new replies. After that, access to contents ends and they enter a restricted retention queue. Clearing stored message text, attached requirements and private report notes requires an explicit authorised operation; audit identifiers remain. Separate backups can retain historical copies until their approved retention period ends. No automatic purge or immediate removal from every backup is promised.
Messaging remains disabled until the owner has validated inbox handling, report review and the retention and backup procedures. Before submitting, you will see the exact company and choose whether to share your postcode in attached requirements.
